Interview with Sachit Grover

What made you steer more towards remaking iconic Bollywood scenes?

I honestly remake iconic Bollywood scenes to test my acting. Whenever I remake a
scene, I don’t like copying the acting necessarily. I prefer having my own style
with the scene I’m recreating. I find it a good exercise to practice my acting. The
love I’ve gotten on these scenes has also encouraged me to continue making videos
as well.

What was the inspiration for remaking Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon?

I have always been obsessed with 90’s Bollywood music and had never done a music video remake. I thought this song in particular was a good test of my acting
and my ability to lip sync. I always have dreamt of being in a music video, so this
also helped me get this desire off my bucket list.

What was the best part about shooting for Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon?

The best part about shooting this music video was the people I worked with. I
actually hadn’t met the actress and videographer till the day of the shoot. I had
posted in a Facebook group saying that I wanted to film something and got
connected to the actress and videographer through Facebook. I was slightly
nervous collaborating with people I hadn’t even met before, but we all had
wonderful chemistry and it worked out great!

How do you select which scenes to remake?

I enjoy reading comments on my YouTube videos and the suggestions people have
for me. Often times, I’ve read a comment and done the scene someone requested.
Other times, I have posted on my Instagram story asking for suggestions.
Recently, I have been trying to do more comedy scenes, so I have been looking at a
lot of 2000’s Akshay Kumar scenes- he’s hilarious!

How do you match every expression and scene props exactly?

I try to have my own style when I’m doing my expressions, but sometimes just
watching the scene a couple times helps. For props, I actually go to a dollar store
and purchase items that look similar to what is used in the original scene!

What is the weirdest scene someone has suggested you to remake?

The scenes I have been asked to remake have not been super weird (so far).
However, I think the most random scene was a scene from Dream Girl. I honestly
think I might do a scene remake from this movie since it is a pretty challenging
role. I don’t know how my voice would sound as a girl, so maybe it’s worth a try!

Do you have a fixed schedule and you work according to it or do you shoot in
advance and then post at your peak times?

I don’t necessarily have a fixed schedule, but usually I post videos every couple
weeks on Tuesday. I need to get better at posting on a consistent basis. I usually
shoot scenes a month in advance before I post them.

What are your upcoming projects?

I am actually posting a scene remake from Akshay Kumar’s Bhagam Bhag very
soon (most likely late January) and I am posting a music video cover to Kyon
Hawa from Veer-Zaara. I am also going to be shooting a short film late January
as well! Lots to come soon 

Do you plan to remake an entire movie someday?

Since Bollywood makes a lot of successful remakes nowadays, I hope that I could
also remake a movie as well. Currently, I don’t have any plans, but think that it
would be a cool project to do in the future. The closest I’ve gotten to remaking an
entire film is my Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi Anti-Bullying Theme Remake. In this 22
minute video, I used the storyline from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and added my own
spin to it. The short film focuses on supporting those who have been bullied. Lots
of people thought this was a cool concept and I had a lot of fun making this video.

What is your message to your fans around the world?

I am so happy that you all enjoy my scene remakes and short films. I want to
remake as many scenes as you want. Comment on my YouTube videos and I will
try my best to do all of them. You are all the best and I’m gracious to have all the
support I have from you guys!

Rapid Fire:

  • Your favourite video of yours
My favourite video of mine is the Pyaar Ka Punchnama Monologue. I didthis 6-minute monologue in one take- it was really challenging to learn and I’m super happy how it turned out!
  • Your favourite actor and actress
My favourite actor is Shah Rukh Khan and my favourite actress is Alia Bhatt.
  • The shoot that took the longest
My short film WATCH was an extremely long shoot. It only has 3 dialogues in the whole film, but was very time-consuming to shoot.
  • A content of yours that received amazing response but you didn’t like it
    much yourself
My first scene remake I ever did was a scene from Kal Ho Naa Ho. I love
the movie, but I thought I didn’t remake the scene that great. I felt I was
imitating Shah Rukh Khan more than I was actually acting. It taught me to
not make the same mistake in the future.
  • A movie you wish you could have acted in
I really wish I could have acted in Shah Rukh Khan’s 1993 Kabhi Haan
Kabhi Naa. I love the innocence portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan in this role
and wish I could have been in this film!
